Sustainable Adventures

Reykjanes Geothermal Tour & sky lagoon

This captivating tour combines the raw volcanic nature with relaxation and beauty. Your personal guide will take you on a journey between tectonic plate boundaries, volcanic sea cliffs, a lighthouse, hot springs, mud pits, sea pools and end the day at a geothermal spa.

Your pickup will be in a luxury electric Mercedes or our Super Jeep if you desire. We will take you around in class, style and sustainability.

The bridge between continents

As you travel around the peninsula you will first visit ‘The bridge between continents‘ the bridge spans the dividing plates of North America and Eurasia. Iceland is the only place on the Mid-Atlantic ridge, that rises above the water line where you can touch both continents. You can see the land beneath the bridge dividing from north to south. You will have the chance to walk around and over the site in this incredible geological location.

Reykjanes Light house

Next you will visit Reykjanes Light house and the beautiful sea cliffs. In 1878 the original light house Valanukur was completed and was rebuilt in 1907 due to unstable cliff faces. The cliffs have been formed from the 1800’s lava flows and continue to erode with the power if the ocean.

Gunnuhver

A short drive away is Gunnuhver Hotsprings, where you will visit one of Icelands largest springs, a selection of the best mud pools and fumerols, along with learning the story behind the haunted site of Gunnuhver. This geothermal site is one of the best examples in Iceland, it also has the remains of an early settlement where the folk would use the geothermal energy in in raw form to cook, bathe and keep warm.

Brimketill

Last but not least is Brimketill rock pools, where the lava has been eroded to form two large pools. It’s not possible to bathe in the pools as the Atlantic is usually very fierce, the crashing waves in the area can leave you a little wet. It’s a magnificent sight to see in windy weather, you can see along the coast for miles on end as the lava meets the ocean, its possible to see seals in the area swimming through the kelps if you are lucky.

After an exciting morning we will stop for lunch at family owned restaurant in Keflavik or the Sky lagoon bar where you will have a chance to choose between a variety of Icelandic local dishes ranging from local soups to sandwiches to proper fish meals. Lunch is also the only thing on the tour that is not included in the price.

Sky lagoon

The world famous Sky lagoon will soak away all your worries, The lagoon is an infinity pool out to the fjord, over looking the city of Reykjavik. Try the included Icelandic 7 step ritual with a cold plunge, sauna, mist room, salt scrub, steam room, rain showers and geothermal bath. Relax for a few hours, and make use of the swim up bar and splash around under the giant hot waterfall. If you wish to upgrade to private changing facilities just select the Sky pass upgrade pack in the checkout. At the end of the day you will be transported back to your hotel or accommodation.

  •   A Wonderful Volcano Hike and Blue Lagoon sustainable adventure in Iceland - We went on a Volcano hike at the site of Fagradalsfjall and Blue Lagoon tour with Thomas from EV Travel. This is a special tour which feels personalised, relaxed and... read more informative. Travelling in extreme comfort in an electric vehicle with drinks & snacks provided, we were picked up from the closest bus stop to our hotel. Thomas drove us to some incredible places with stunning views, the Seltun geothermal area is an experience particularly for your sense of smell due to the sulphuric fumes. The volcano hike was manageable and the scenery outstanding, although at times a little slippy on the way down, we would recommend wearing walking boots for the stoney terrain. Walking on the lava field was incredible and Thomas was very knowledgeable about what you were experiencing. We then moved on to the Blue Lagoon, well worth a visit and Thomas had booked us a table at the Lava restaurant. This is a beautiful restaurant, although pricey by UK standards, it is a real treat. Thomas made sure we were happy with what happens at the Lagoon and then left us to enjoy a couple of hours there, an experience well worth doing. He then drove us back to our hotel in Reykjavik.
This was definitely one of the best trips we experienced during our time in Iceland.
With the knowledge that the company plant a tree for each tour that is sold, we had a wonderful time and felt very spoilt on this well organised sustainable tour. We would thoroughly recommend this company. Thankyou Thomas 😊

  •   Awesome Visit to Iceland 10 out of 10! - If you are looking for a tour that takes a big bus and is extremely crowded with an inexperienced and boring guide corralling you to the usual tourist traps with... read more no regard for your persona needs, then definitely do not book Thomas. On the other hand, if you want a once in a lifetime experience with a charismatic, knowledgeable, adventurous guide who is flexible and always on time, Thomas is for you! My wife and I and two friends traveled to Iceland for 3 days and spent them with Thomas. On Day 1 he promptly retrieved us from the airport, coordinated an afternoon at the Sky thermal spa, and topped off the evening with a champagne toast while viewing the Northern Lights (he encouraged us powering through the first night as it was our greatest opportunity to see them - they did not disappoint). Day 2 was a full day being driven around the Golden Circle during which we viewed jaw dropping water falls, ate at an indescribable sustainable tomato farm, and learned about the history and geology of amazing Iceland. On our final day with surprised Thomas with a last minute request to alter the day’s schedule - the result was what can only be described as a bucket list day. Four good friends on a glacier with a profoundly capable guide - 10 out of 10 day all thanks to Thomas.
